It is not the first time Arsene Wenger has dipped his hands into the talent pool at the Nou Camp, only to emerge with an exciting young prospect. Spanoudakis becomes the latest in a long line of La Masia students to make the move to north London.
The 15-year-old was highly rated amongst Barcelona coaches and is described by the same report as a cultured central midfielder. With a knack for threading acute passes, it won't be difficult to start drawing comparisons with Cesc Fabregas.
Spanoudakis has already represented Germany at both Under-15 and Under-16 level but remains eligible to play for Greece. Metro say the Greek FA have already started asking him whether he would be open to representing them at senior level.
