Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has overtaken Samuel Eto'o of Cameroon and Manchester City's Yaya Toure to become Africa's highest paid sportsman.

According to The Magazine's Money Issue salary survey project, Gyan will make $16 million annual profit from his salaries, wages and endorsements as well his private businesses.

Gyan who moved from English Premier League side Sunderland in September 2013 to Al Ain in the UAE for a record loan fee now earns more than Manchester City and Ivory Coast star Yaya Toure who pockets around $3322,000 a week and an annual aggregate of $15.4 million.

Togo star Emmanuel Adebayor currently earns an aggregate of US$ $13.3 million, while three-time African Footballer of the Year Samuel Eto'o earns a little over $13million annually.
