SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW WITH SALAMI OLALEKAN MUSTAPHA (Cartoon Grafix)

In this spotlight interview with Cg,Rosanation crew hookup with the famous cartoon grafix. Read what he said about his inspiration and lifestyle.

______KINDLY INTRODUCE YOUR SELF?
I am Salami Olalekan Mustapha, a digital artist, graphic designer, 3d artist, animator, cartoonist and a portrait freelance. Am second child of 5, a Muslim and popularly known as Cartoon Gfx.
I was born in the early 90s and hails from kwara state.

____YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Started schooling at Funbis nursery and primary school,my secondary school at Livingstone model college.
Then HND in Accountancy at Kwara state polytechnic,Currently serving at Offa, kwara state.

_____ WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR PROFESSION?
As a digital artist, graphics designer and animator, the only focus of attraction in this profession is creativity. Creativity and exposing of inner mind to new idea is what i like most in designing.

_____ HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS?
It's been long have been designing. But, I actually came into the professional lime light in 2009. I graduated Computer College when I was in JSS 3 and that was 2006.

_____ SHOULD YOUR PARENTS HAVE BEEN MORE OR LESS STRICT?
My parents have been very supporting. It's just that they actually do react to current situations. I remembered my Dad (Alhaji) bought me a desktop in 2007, when I was through with my desktop publishing packages. So, I can't recall if they are been strict at all.

_____ HOW WAS YOUR CHILDHOOD?
Very lovely. I enjoyed my childhood especially the creative part of it. Memories like: Playing video games, making paper ships, paper flight, kite, drawing cartoons, sketching out comic books and some other creative things. Been an artist, has been something that's part of me for a very long time.

_____YOUR HOBBIES
I love drawing, playing video games, designing, painting, browsing the internet and also listening to music…lol, music is life.

_____ ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?
Why not, I've got nothing to worry about.

_____ IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
If I could go back in time, I would have done fine art or graphic design in higher institution than doing Accounting. Am very good in Accounting though, but I find fun as a professional graphic designer than been an Accountant. But, I have no regret whatsoever.

_____ WHO ARE YOUR HEROES?
My God and my parents.

_____ WHO DO YOU HAVE NO RESPECT FOR?
I have no regards for those who are not loyal and trustworthy.

_____ WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
Play video games, paint or make portraits and spend time with my boo. (wink)

_____ WHAT INSPIRED YOU?
#Highly inspired as it is always stated in my status, I got inspired exploring artworks from international professionals. I envied them, and then promise to get better. One day, I should inspire the world as well.

____ANY CHALLENGES ?
Sure, lot of them. Not only finance has been challenge to many. I won't say it's not a challenge but to some extend is not a bone of contention. But, ability to consistently master any art or skills it's a very mighty challenge and creatively making use of any techniques learnt in your designs is also a great task. Designers face challenge even when designing because sometimes we found ourselves in a state of dilemma or tight spot not knowing what next or what's missing.

_____ If you are to meet any celebrity dead or alive who could that be ? And why?
Olamide. Though, I met him once. That was at digitrack at TBS. I would love to meet him again because he's thy bomb.

_____ HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED?
All ramifications, my sense of reasoning, dress code, manner of approach, preferences and taste. We are all bound to change as we grow older and more mature minded.

_____ WHAT'S THE SIDE OF YOU THAT THE PUBLIC NEVER SEES?
Not sleeping overnight. Lol, my cousin do actually call me kerosene cause he's always confused how I work all day then still sit tight to my laptop to design any artwork. Acquiring new skills and consistent tutorials. Public just see you delivering dope artworks but wouldn't mind to ask how many times you've fall before you rise again.

_____ DO YOU SOMETIMES FEEL THAT YOU ARE BLESSED?
Sure, very blessed. Have achieved so much in few years. Thank God for that.

_____ DO YOU THINK THE PUBLIC AND CRITICS EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM YOU?
No, not too much. Thousands of designers are doing better than you. They only want you to get better.

_____ HOW HARD DO YOU PUSH YOURSELF? Do u often try new things?
Very hard, how do I inspire the world when am not pushing myself hard enough to learn new things? So, I try as much as possible to learn as fast as I can.

_____ WHEN ARE YOU COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH YOUR WORK?
When the client is completely satisfied and have gained his/her trust in delivering more dope works.

_____What projects you are currently working on?
So many of them, currently am working on some stickers for an app. would be launched soon and it will be taken over. So, watch out.
